about the lab
The centrosome is an intracellular organelle that nucleates and organises the microtubule cytoskeleton, important for proper cell division and chromosome segregation, intracellular trafficking, organelle positioning and polarity. Thus, through the microtubule cytoskeleton, the centrosome orchestrates some of the most essential cellular functions. During disease and in response to stresses or insults, changes in centrosomes and microtubules can occur, such as the amplification of centrosomes in cancer. Our mission is to understand how cells adapt to centrosome and microtubule alterations and how these in turn impact cell physiology and pathology to develop better ways to combat cancer.
