After the success of 2022, this year we went on a 3-nighter lab retreat (number of nights keep increasing!) in the Peak District! Lot’s of amazing science, team work, mystery activities and nice hikes! The traditional mazing food by our Masterchef Sam (who is not a 4ever honorary lab member). A must event for the lab!

EMBO Centrosome conference - instanbul 2023

This year we attended the EMBO Centrosome Conference that took place in beautiful Istanbul, Turkey. The lucky ones from the lab (Susana, Sarah, Lisa, Rob and our adopted lab member Joana) had a blast, incredibly inspired by all the cool science and amazed by the city and food! Such fun :)

lab 10-year anniversary 2023

We decided to celebrate our anniversary in style, with some former lab members and our colleagues at the BCI that started their labs at the same time as us, after all, science is more fun when shared! We started with a reception on the 6th of June followed by a talk from lab alumni Judith about her job as a science writer and a wonderful dinner at Pasta Nostra. The 7th started with a morning of scientific talks from some lab members (Sam, Lisa and Maria) and some alumni as well (Pedro, Bongwhan and Claire). We got together with the labs of Paulo Ribeiro, Angus Cameron, Sarah McClelland, Katiuscia Bianchi and Gabi Ficz to celebrate the big 10! What a wonderful way to thank everyone that was part of this journey and will continue to be for many years to come! THANK YOU!

We had a blast at our first official 2-nighter lab retreat in the Peak District! Lot’s of great scientific discussions, amazing food (by our own ‘Masterchef’ Sam!) fun activities (e.g scientific cookie competition), nice walks and just having a blast in knowing everyone after long lockdowns imposed by COVID. A must repeat event!

LISTER PRIZE talk 2017

After receiving the Lister prize in 2016, Susana gave Lister Prize Talk and received the beautiful medal from the Lister Institute Chairman Sir Alex Markham and Lister Director Kate Law. An amazing day shared with colleagues and the lab! This would not have been possible without them!
